Curious about some of the most popular and interesting tile trends right now? Earlier this month, we visited Coverings 2019 in sunny Orlando. This tile and stone trade show offers a glimpse at thousands of products, which is just one of the ways we source the best materials for you to choose from in our store.
After seeing so much tile and stone, common themes tend to emerge. Some of these we’ve been seeing for several years, others are new or are variations on previous trends.
Metallic
One trend is the use of metallic accents. This can lean traditional, modern, or towards several other styles, but it always feels dramatic and eye-catching. While there are solid metal or metal-look finishes, we particularly noticed metallics mixed with other finishes this year. Some were combined with stone, with solid colors, or integrated into a mosaic pattern. These feel particularly nice in a bathroom, where they add some luxury to your morning and evening routines.
Geometric
Another style we saw quite a bit of was solid geometric shapes. These range from traditional bricks and hexagons to more unusual shapes. Elongated versions of more well-known styles are common, including pickets and skinny subway or brick tiles. There are many places where this style will fit, lending a little extra interest to play off your other design elements.
Rustic
Surface textures included a variety of “rustic” versions, often with a glossy finish and a wavy profile. These have a more retro or handmade look to them, and would look great in a sunny kitchen. Other tiles feature a weathered look.
Graphic
Graphic tiles, with bold colors, strong lines, and some novelty print styles, have been making appearances as well. These are great for those who want to make an impact with their design choices.
