Schluter Systems has introduced a new product called KERDI-BOARD. If you are familiar with KERDI then the idea of KERDI-BOARD is not too different. Â The advantages of the board over the traditional KERDI cloth are the ease of use and its multi-purpose functionality. Â No heavy Hardi-Backer is necessary anymore with KERDI-BOARD, because the board will replace its function as a water repellent. Â It provides ease in wall leveling because the KERDI-BOARD is set with your normal thinset/mortar, which can be used to level out the walls. Â Lastly, it is completely waterproof and vapor resistant.
Don and Truman from Schluter Systems gave a demonstration last Thursday to our contractors on how strong, light, and easy the board is to use. Â The response from the contractors was great, so we will be bringing in our first shipment soon. Â The possibilities with KERDI-BOARD are almost limitless. Â Yes, one can use it as a simple shower wall waterproofing, but it can be used as a building material as well.
