New Product: KERDI-BOARD
Schluter Systems has introduced a new product called KERDI-BOARD. If you are familiar with KERDI then the idea of KERDI-BOARD is not too different. The advantages of the board over the traditional KERDI cloth are the ease of use and its multi-purpose functionality. No heavy Hardi-Backer is necessary anymore with KERDI-BOARD, because the board will replace its function as a water repellent. It provides ease in wall leveling because the KERDI-BOARD is set with your normal thinset/mortar, which can be used to level out the walls. Lastly, it is completely waterproof and vapor resistant.
Don and Truman from Schluter Systems gave a demonstration last Thursday to our contractors on how strong, light, and easy the board is to use. The response from the contractors was great, so we will be bringing in our first shipment soon. The possibilities with KERDI-BOARD are almost limitless. Yes, one can use it as a simple shower wall waterproofing, but it can be used as a building material as well.
